The
Dales secured a first league win of the season as they put an unbeaten FC
Barolle side to the sword at Clayhall.
Having faced a succession of sides chasing for the title in recent weeks, you
could have been forgiven for seeing the same from this fixture with FC Barolle
having dropped just two points over the season.
It was the second meeting between the sides this season, the first of which saw
a 7-1 win in the Fenton Cup.
The Dales were strong early on and were first to every challenge, clearly showing
the desire to end a run of league defeats. The first goal came when JT tried to
ghost past a defender but was tripped inside the box. Tel Copus stepped up to
score his 50th club goal, slamming home from the spot.
Glendale continued to push on but were pegged back when a terrific long range
effort sailed into the net past an outstretched Salmon in the home goal for
1-1.
After the break, the Dales continued to edge the game on and seemed the most
likely to score the next goal although FC Barolle themselves got into some
dangerous areas but weren't able to make the position pay.
It was JT who grabbed the next goal however when Troy's defence splitting ball
put JT in and he shot past the keeper to make it 2-1.
A third goal wasn't far behind as skipper Hilly got on the ball in behind the
defence and he released a shot on the outside of his boot to double the
advantage with little over 15 minutes to go.
And the scoring hadn't finished there as with one of the more lucky goals of
the season saw JT shoot from fully 40 yards out, near the right touchline and
his shot somehow found the bottom corner.
That confirmed a 4-1 win and puts the Dales back on the winning track with a
County Cup tie next up.
