valley mount comeback to defeat dales

posted by robpgfc on 5th sep 2010, 06:48

Valley Park had to come from behind to defeat the Sunday side on the final weekend of pre-season.

Valley were ahead early on beating an offside to produce an easy finish. Richard Kingston had already gone close on a couple of occasions including with an attempted overhead kick which went a little wrong!

The Dales put a lot more pressure on the Valley keeper this time round but nothing to really test him as the half drew to a close at 1-0.

The first 15 minutes of the second half were all Glendale as the the Valley defence was torn apart with two excellent goals. First of all Scott Campbell got down the left, combined with Ricky who in turn released Richard to produce a terrific finish from a tight angle for 1-1.

Moments later it was 2-1 as the Kingston-Reeves combination, along with Ryan Cooper, presented Ricky with a chance to bury from 12 yards which he duly obliged.

Valley's superior status began to show after this point however as a combination of excellent football and poor defending gifted them the four goals they went on to score with their midfielder terrorising the defence with good footwork and sublime finishing.

They went on to win comfortable 5-2 but not without their scare after the break. First league game is next Sunday against Shield Academy.
